VSP®



Metal VSP®, a slotted ring design, is available in 25 mm, 40 mm and 50 mm sizes, and in 304, 316 stainless steel or other metals on request. The design promotes the formation of liquid droplets as the liquid cascades down the packed bed to ensure good liquid mixing and uniform liquid distribution. Yet, very low pressure drop and high efficiency are produced due to the open and non-nesting structure.

TOP-PAK®



Metal Top-Pak® is only available in 75 mm size. They can be manufactured in 304 and 316 stainless steel, and other metals on request. It's almost symmetrical shape with regular lattice work construction allows for uniform filling across the center section of the column. This even distribution of the individual elements lowers the pressure drop since extreme changes in gas flow direction are eliminated. The narrow section surfaces ensure that each element is thoroughly wetted, even in low liquid applications. Top-Pak® is ideal for vacuum distillation, direct gas/liquid heat transfer applications, or other processes with low liquid and high gas rates.

REPLACEMENT GUIDELINES: 

When using Top-Pak to replace 2" Pall Rings, the following generalized column sizing rule can be followed:
  • Reduce column cross-sectional area planned for 2" Pall Rings by 25%
The following improvements in performance will be achieved:
  • Capital costs for new equipment will be reduced
  • Pressure drop will be reduced by approximately 15%
  • Operating costs will be reduced
