Co-Flo Tray - The Jaeger CoFlo™ Tray is a gas-liquid contacting device for use in distillation, absorption and stripping columns. Each tray consists of a Liquid Distributor, a Contacting Zone, and a Liquid Collector.

The device operates on the principle that entering vapor and liquid are contacted such that all of the liquid is entrained upward with the vapor. The dispersion process takes place in the contacting stage, and integral with this stage is a vapor-liquid separator. Collected liquid is returned to the tray below via an alternating side downcomer.

The net result of this configuration is that vapor flows from bottom to top, as in a traditional counter current contacting device, but the liquid travels down in loops being entrained up one tray and then falling to the tray below in the downcomer.

The CoFlo™ Tray has been tested at the Separations Research Program (SRP) at the University of Texas. Test results indicate that the CoFlo™ Tray provides capacity increases up to 100% greater than sieve trays without sacrificing efficiency.
Liquid Distributor - SS


Sieve Trays - The sieve tray is flat perforated plate design that became the workhorse tray in the 1950’s. The perforations can range form 1/8 inch and larger, but generally average 1/2 inch. Sieve trays offer relatively good anti-fouling and pressure drop characteristics compared to other trays. Sieve trays operate under a specific velocity range and therefore would not be a choice if radical turndown is required.







 


Bubble Cap Trays - Bubble trays are typically used in applications with low liquid loading and large variations in vapor loading. They have lower capacity (10-20%) than properly designed valve or sieve trays however they are superior in their leak-proof characteristics. Bubble caps come in a wide range of designs, shapes, and sizes. The most common designs include the slotted cap and standard FRI solid cap.













Valve Trays - The general-purpose valve tray contains a movable valve that covers the holes to regulate changes in flow conditions. These valves offer varying performance benefits based on specific design requirements. The general-purpose valve, JV1 can be use in most services. It is recognized by its integrally formed legs and can be offered flush-seated and non-rotating.

Miscellaneous Trays consist of coils or layers of knitted wire mesh held together by top and bottom support grids. The mesh material can be metal or plastic, depending on the application.
